California road worker struck and killed

A California road worker was recently killed when, while on the job, he was struck from behind by a teenager driving a car. The deceased was operating a grinder in a construction zone when the driver swerved over traffic cones and entered into the construction area.

Such serious car accidents frequently come about because motorists do not proceed with caution through areas where they know that workers will be present. Though the driver stated he was unable to see the construction area because of the fogging up of his windshield, poor visibility should alert the driver to be more cautious under such circumstances and even suggests pulling over to the side of the road until the windshield has cleared.

San Diego pilot killed by plane propeller

A San Diego pilot was struck and killed while he was hand cranking the propeller. The fatal accident occurred at 8:30 a.m. after the propeller struck him in the head.

It was reported that the pilot and passenger were in the aircraft as the plane began to taxi down the runway. However, after the plane stalled the pilot got out of the plane and attempted to start it by hand. It was at this point that the pilot was killed.

Reason for California truck accident remains undetermined

There are so many things that can go wrong when driving a tractor-trailer rig that trying to determine how a truck accident occurred is often extremely difficult. A driver of a truck in California recently died after a crash that caused the truck to go up in flames, but exactly why the truck crashed has yet to be determined.

A California Highway Patrol spokesperson was quoted as saying, "The truck straightened out a curve in the roadway for an unknown reason, before he collided into the embankment." Though weather was not alleged to have been a factor in the accident, the roadway was somewhat wet though not icy when the accident did occur.

San Diego police officer pulls man from burning vehicle

A San Diego car accident had a happy ending only because of the courageous actions of a police officer that arrived on the scene soon after the crash. A driver of a Chevrolet Impala stalled and was soon after rear-ended by an SUV.

The driver of the Impala was then trapped in his vehicle and the car became engulfed in flames. The officer that arrived on the scene then broke the window of the burning vehicle and pulled the unconscious victim out of the vehicle and to safety.

Another California hit-and-run accident

A pedestrian accident occurred where an individual was struck and killed on a California roadway. The accident occurred on the shoulder of a highway at around 4:30 a.m.

Just prior to being struck and killed, the pedestrian had been involved in a minor crash and had pulled his vehicle over to the side of the road. As the pedestrian got out of his car to examine the damage, he was then struck by a Prius. The pedestrian was then subsequently struck by a number of other vehicles after the original collision occurred. The driver responsible for the original collision then fled the accident scene in the Prius.

San Diego burn victim making strides

A 20-year old man living in Encinitas just north of San Diego has defied the odds by surviving a devastating car accident and burn injuries that consumed more than 85-percent of his body. The injured man understands that for all practical purposes he should not have survived and he's extremely grateful just to be alive. Needless to say, he received a great deal of assistance along the way.

The young man was a passenger in an SUV that crashed on a California expressway. Three passengers in the SUV (including the injured man's girlfriend) died in the accident, and another individual in another vehicle died as well. The burns were so severe that the young man was only given a 1 percent chance of surviving.

San Diego woman believed to be texting before fatal crash

As a follow-up to a story that we posted a few days ago, the woman that caused a fatal car accident that took the life of a San Diego college athlete was likely texting at the time that the accident occurred. The woman was apparently so distracted that she didn't even realize that traffic on the freeway had come to a complete stop.

The consequences of such conduct are, of course, obvious and often deadly. There are too many circumstances of telephone logs showing a driver texting and responding to other texts before being involved in a fatal crash. Drivers while texting frequently rear end other motor vehicles, run red lights and remain unaware of the presence of pedestrians and children crossing the road.

Distracted driving results in 21-year old woman's death

As if we needed another reminder, a recent fatal car accident in San Diego was likely due to distracted driving. The driver thought to be responsible for the wrongful death has been charged with felony vehicular manslaughter and gross negligence. She faces a maximum of 6-years in prison.

The collision occurred at 11:00 a.m. during the middle of the week. The victim of the accident was traveling along Interstate 405 near Fountain Valley and was waiting at a stoplight. The driver charged in the crash came up upon her while traveling at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour. It is not believed that this driver slowed down or braked when she crashed into the victim's vehicle.

Pickup driver strikes motorcyclist in downtown San Diego

A 21-year old motorcycle rider was struck by a pickup truck while riding his motorcycle in downtown San Diego. The motorcyclist suffered a broken hip and other injuries. The motorcycle accident remains under investigation and it was not yet reported whether the driver of the pickup truck has been cited or arrested for the incident.

Too often motorcycle accidents happen in this manner. Other drivers do not pay attention to motorcycles on the road until an accident has actually occurred. And when the accident does occur, the injuries are often fatal.

California truck accident kills driver

A recent big-rig truck accident resulted in the death of the truck driver, but fortunately did not result in even more fatalities. According to sources, the accident occurred during the early morning hours when the truck, driving northbound on I-5, suddenly veered across the meridian and then crashed into a bridge overpass. The upper half of the truck was literally sheered in half, and the groceries that the truck was carrying were spread all over the freeway.

A veteran California highway patrol man commented on the severity of the crash and stated he had never seen anything like it. The crash left one lane of the freeway closed for several hours. There was no indication that there was any structural damage to the bridge overpass, however, but this was a distinct possibility.
